Ashbrooke  Belford  House  moved into fourth position in the Wearside  League  - their  highest  rating so far - when they defeated Jarrow by an only  goal  last night.
 
Martin  Deacon broke the deadlock in the 55th minute with a clinical strike  but Ashbrooke  had  Richard  Oxenham  to thank for  an  outstanding  performance  in defence.
 
Houghton Town were twice ahead but had to settle for a point with Kirkbymoorside at Leyburn Grove.
 
Brad  Freeman headed them in front before Paul Cox equalised with a strong drive on the edge of the penalty area.
 
Freeman restored the advantage to Houghton firing into the net from 25 yards and in the 80th minute Paul Round restored parity.
 
With  just  two minutes remaining Houghton's Billy Harrison failed to convert  a penalty.
 
Cleator  Moor Celtic scored four times in each half to demolish Guisborough Town HC  8-0 with goals by Craig Padley (3), Glynn Edwards (2), Darren Johnson,  Greg Stainton and Barry Irving.
 
Ryhope CW's fixture with Coxhoe Athletic was called off before the start because of a floodlight failure.
 
Willington gave Scarborough Town a fright when they met in the Preliminary Round of the Wearside League Cup at Hall Lane.
 
The  home  side, with only one win all season, shocked second-top  Borough  when debutant Adrian Weston cancelled out Luke Jenkinson's early goal.
 
With  extra  time looming, the Seasiders clinched victory with a brilliant  solo effort from Josh Greening whose delicate chip from 18 yards found the net.
